We’re getting excited for our next workshops in May, focusing on how to naturally and safely preserve your own foods! 

Experienced preserver, Nancy Preston from @its_only_natural_2_preserve will be joining us at our Happy Biome Studio to teach us safe and healthy methods for preserving foods. Sat 6 May 1-3pm we will be learning how to preserve acidic foods such as fruits using a water bath method. Then on Sat 27 May 1-4pm we’ll be looking at preserving low acidic foods such as vegetables, meats and meals using a pressure canning method. Each workshop is $50 and bookings are essential via nancypreston@tpg.com.au

There are many benefits to preserving your own food. Not only can you save money by preserving foods while they are in season, and also eliminate waste, but you also know exactly what’s going into your food. So many canned and bottled foods in the supermarket are laced with refined sugar and salt, not to mention a bunch of preservatives that could have adverse impacts on your health. A lot of cans also contain nasty BPAs that can leach into food overtime. Homemade canned and bottled goods also taste way better than storebought stuff, and contain more nutrients.

If you’ve been keen to try preserving your own foods but have been nervous about the potential nasty microbes that can grow in poorly prepared food, well these workshops coming up in May are for you! Nancy will show you the correct way of preserving to kill off pathogenic microbes so that you and your family can eat your preservations care-free
