DIY Rose Petal Salt Scrub

DIY Rose Petal Salt Scrub

DIY Rose Petal Salt Scrub

Treat your mum this Mother’s Day with this beautifully divine hand-made salt scrub (and make sure you make an extra jar for yourself…this stuff is amazing, and you are worth it!).

This rose petal body scrub is moisturising and exfoliating, and will also help to produce feelings of joy and self-worth. Salt scrubs are easy to make with ingredients you have around the house. Epsom salts naturally soften skin, and slough away dead cells. They are packed full of the naturally occurring mineral compound of sulphate and magnesium which are readily absorbed by the skin, and are commonly used as a muscle relaxant. They also help flush toxins and calm inflammation. Himalayan pink crystal salt is also packed full of minerals, and is prized for its therapeutic properties on the skin. The minerals nourish, replenish and aid in detoxing the skin. Sweet almond oil is nice smelling, and good for all skin types. It is a very moisturising oil because it is easily absorbed by skin and it makes a nice carrier for essential oils. You can use other carrier oils in this scrub – a cheaper option would be olive oil. Rose petals are used for their subtle scent and beauty; their fragrance has been known to be intoxicating and aphrodisiac-like. Joy essential oil is a delightful floral blend, that stimulates the brain and senses for love and affection. This scrub can also be used as a relaxing, luxurious bath soak.

Ingredients:

250ml glass jar
3⁄4cup epsom salts
1⁄4 cup himalayan pink crystal salt
1⁄8 tsp beetroot powder (optional, for colouring)
1⁄4 cup sweet almond oil
1⁄4 cup rose petals
4 drops Young Living Joy essential oil

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a food processor and whizz until the rose petals have milled into small bits. Pour into jar.

To use: Exfoliate body twice a week with 1 tbsp of scrub. Scrub can also be used in the bath as a relaxing and romantic soak.
