Figs

Who doesn’t feel a little bit posh when they slice open the flesh of a fig and bite into its pink seed speckled flesh? I don’t have figs very often because they’re so pricey, but currently my dad’s fig tree is dropping them like flies!! Thanks Dad for your bag of fig delights!! Now I can feel posh all week 😜

Aside from feeling posh, figs are a fantastic source of many essential minerals and vitamins. Did you know that 1/2 cup of figs contain the same amount of calcium as 1/2 cup milk? They are also s great source of magnesium, manganese, potassium, and vitamin B6. They also have potent antioxidant power, which can help inhibit cancer cells.

I’m always fascinated with how fruits and vegetables resemble the parts of the human body which they help to assist. You know, like walnuts look like the brain and are good for brain health because they have high omega-3 fatty acid content. Sliced carrots resemble the eye, and are good for vision. Well what do figs look like? Apparently they say the male testes as they hang on trees in twos! Lol. Funnily enough, figs are known to increase sperm count and sperm mobility and can help men overcome sterility. So eat up Dads 😉
