Hey guys, Just a reminder that it’s the last day to score your early-bird tickets for our DIY Toxin-Free CLEANING Workshop next Saturday (8 July) 4-6pm @ Happy Biome Studio! We have a handful of spots left, so pop on over to our online store to register to avoid missing out 🙂
During the workshop you’ll be inspired to go toxin-free as we lead you through the maze of some of the more dangerous chemicals found in household cleaning products. You’ll also get to make and take home OVER 3 LITRES of essential cleaning products, all for a teeny price of $50 (if you sign up today). One of these products is a 500ml glass bottle of anti-microbial surface spray, using ALL NATURAL ingredients that won’t harm you or the environment – triple bonus is that it targets the suppression of pathogenic bugs, without using toxic chemicals such as triclosan which pretty much wipes out all the bugs – the bad AND the good – leaving your immune system very compromised. For every 1 human cell in our bodies, we have 10 microbiota cells living in synergy with us – we are literally more microbiota than we are human cells, and we need our friendly microscopic critters to function healthily!
Leading up to our workshop, I thought I’d share with you one of my favourite DIY cleaning recipes: anti-microbial wipes. This isn’t a product you’ll be making at the workshop, but it does pair nicely with the surface spray you’ll be making! These wipes were the very first DIY toxin-free recipe that I made. I had been using conventional baby wipes, and they were stripping away my hands, leaving them super dry and cracked. I was pretty much over it, so was keen to try an alternative product, something more natural and gentler – not only for my own hands, but for Elsie’s poor little bottom as well!
These wipes are not only useful as baby wipes, but they are also great to use for cleaning surfaces, and to use as sanitising hand wipes. You want to make sure you use a more expensive paper towel (like Viva) as the cheaper paper towels will rip in your hands (not great when you’re trying to wipe a gooey bottom, haha!). If you need castile liquid soap or essential oils*, we sell them at our studio, along with a bunch of other DIY raw ingredients and containers – you can check out what we have in stock online. We can also post ingredients Australia-wide 🙂
DIY Anti-Microbial Wipes
1 x Roll Paper Towel
1 x Container (long enough to store wipes) or large snap-lock bag
2 cups distilled water
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp castile liquid soap
8 drops essential oil (all 100% therapeutic-grade essential oils are highly microbial, so any will work their magic! I’m loving using Young Living* Lemongrass in my wipes at the mo mo).
1. Add all ingredients straight into the container you will be storing the wipes (or in a big bowel, if you plan to store them in a snap-lock bag). Mix well to combine.
2. Wait a couple of minutes for liquid to soak through the paper towel, and then flip the paper towel to ensure the other side is completely soaked.
3. Once soaked through, pull the paper towel roll out and discard.
4. Now your wipes are ready to be stored and used.
To Use: Pull wipes from the inside of the roll for easy usage.
These will store for a couple of months. If you see mould starting to grow on the wipes, or if they start smelling a but funky, discard.
*If you’re interested in trying Young Living oils, we’re offering a FREE $50 Gift Voucher to spend at our Happy Biome studio or on our online store when you sign up with us as a Young Living Wholesale Member on a Premium Starter Kit.
