One of the things I love about Functional Medicine is that it combines science with natural medicine. Not only does Functional Medicine use the latest scientifically validated lab tests to detect imbalances at a functional level, but there are also more and more research studies to show the effectiveness of treatment protocols, by utilising follow-up lab testing to objectively show that imbalances have been corrected.
So of course I was excited to come across this research paper which analysed the effectiveness of the Kalish Functional Medicine protocol for treating fatigue, stress, and digestive issues. The paper revealed significant improvements in stress, fatigue, and DHEA levels (which is one of your stress hormones). There was also a significant reduction in pathogenic infections in the gut, such as h.pylori.
The Kalish protocol is the one I utilise in my own Functional Medicine practice. While I see again and again improvements in my clients’ health in my own practice, it is pretty cool to see scientific studies backing up the effectiveness of my treatment plans.
