Almond Milk Recipe
If dairy milk is making you feel sick, or if you’d like to go dairy-free for awhile to see if dairy affects you, try this homemade almond milk. It’s crazy easy to make, and tastes delicious!
Ingredients
– 2 cup raw almonds
– 6 cups water (plus extra to soak)
Method
- Soak the almonds overnight in water. The next day, drain the almonds.
- Add the almonds and 6 cups of fresh water, to a blender. Blend well.
- Strain through either a sieve or cheese cloth. (The cheese cloth will catch even more of the almond skin).
Handy Hint: Rather than throwing out the almond skin that you’ve collected, store it for later use in some paleo muffins!
Disclaimer: As a Clinical Nutritional Medicine Practitioner, I’m not totally against dairy. I feel that each person is individual and unique in how they react to dairy. I notice that I can get mucousy/stuffy when I have too much dairy, and sometimes my skin feels greasy as I’m eating it. However, not everyone has an adverse reaction to dairy. Here’s a good unbiased article which outlines the pros and cons of dairy.
