1 YOUR WEIGHT
Human bodies come in many shapes, sizes, textures, tone and colours. Some jiggle and wiggle and some don’t. Some are soft and smooth. Some are taught and rough. Some are tall or short. No two are the same.
2 YOUR BUTT
Having spent a lot of time learning about the human body, to me there aren’t any awkward parts, not your butt, nor your armpits, nor your feet. At times these parts may need work. So there is no need to feel any embarrassment.
3 YOUR BODY HAIR
No therapist cares about your leg hair, or back, chest, face or armpit hair – shaved, unshaved, half shaved, long, lots of it, bits here and there, or none of it. We’re human, we have hair. Please don’t ever apologise for having hair. The only thing I take notice of is not pulling or dragging it while massaging.
4 YOUR PERCEIVED FLAWS
My interest is NOT anyone’s moles, scars, cellulite, birthmarks, pimples, ingrown hairs, wrinkles, skin tags, chipped nail polish, non-pedicured feet, stomach grumbles or snoring etc. What I AM focused on is your muscles and soft tissues that are causing your pain or discomfort and limiting your movement. However, some massage etiquette is to be mindful of cleanliness, which is always appreciated.
5 YOUR UNDERWEAR
Being naked is just not relaxing to most people, and it isn’t necessary. If you’re having work done specifically on your glutes or hips then apart from normal briefs, you might like to wear a g-string. But guys, please wear briefs as boxers especially long ones aren’t that easy to work around. And don’t wear your best undies as they may get a bit of oil on them. In any case, you are always fully draped with towels respectfully.
So if you need a massage to treat an injury, pain or restricted muscle movement, or you just want to lie down for an hour and blissfully relax and relieve stress, you are respected with care and compassion.
