Did you know that green is the colour for love? I’m sure most mum’s have had trouble getting their kids to eat greens. I am no exception! Only in the last month or two has Miss Four willingly ate greens. I think this is because we’re finally getting summer produce blooming in our Happy Biome veggie garden (oops, I planted late!!). Plants plucked straight from the earth taste so much better, plus Poppy is so excited every time something ripens. She’s always eager to taste. The other reason for her sudden (most of the time) compliance, is that I’ve been teaching her that green is the colour for love, and when she eats green foods she is filled with love. She’s very imagery-driven, and I can see her eyes light up and her chest expand as she munches down her spinach, imagining her body balloon with green love. If you want your kids to eat more greens, maybe you can try this!
Love is associated with the heart. It is common thought that red is associated to the heart and to love. But research has found some interesting links associating green to the heart. For example, exposing people to green fluorescent light appeared to have a soothing effect on their hearts, affecting heart rate variability. People who experience constant worry and anxiety seem to have decreased HRV, which is associated to heart disorders and depression. Exposure to green, then, may have heart-protective effects, and help us to feel happier and more at peace.
A wonderful, therapeutic way of exposing yourself to more green is getting out in the bush or lying on green grass, spending time in your garden, or filling your home with plants. Breath in the loving breath of nature and revel in the expansiveness of greenery. And don’t forget to fill your body with heart-protective, healing green foods, that will help you to feel the love!
